POSITION: Construction Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Construction Manager has overall and bottom-line responsibility for projects, project teams, and client satisfaction. They optimize production quality and productivity to meet the company’s strategic goals for customer focus, operational excellence, people development, and financial success. To be successful in this role, you will need to provide clear guidance and leadership to project teams to ensure successful delivery of projects as determined by client satisfaction, schedule and budget adherence, quality construction, and profitability.. As a Construction Manager, you must be able to create positive and productive partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including superintendents, construction managers, owners, owners’ representatives, developers, designers, subcontractors, suppliers and local building officials.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads, motivates, and develops Dohn team members enabling them to perform at their highest levels.
  • Monitors progress of assigned projects. Provides direction and support to the project team.
  • Actively involved in customer relationship management and helps lead a culture of business development being everyone’s responsibility. Creates and maintains professional client and design team relationships.
  • Supports and ensures compliance with Dohn processes and procedures relative to:

o Safety and risk management

o Preconstruction, project planning and preparation

o Subcontract preparation and administration

o Project scheduling and timely completion

o Cost controls, projections, and monthly reporting

o Quality control

o Owner contract administration

o Claim and dispute management and resolution

o Project closeout, including warranty

  • Participates in project meetings as necessary.
  • Recruits and hires project team members.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations of direct reports.
  • Provide input to company ownership for strategic planning.
  • Assists in evaluation of operations staff needs and assignments.
  • Assists with development and management of departmental budgets.
  • Works with other construction managers to evaluate, update, and implement operations policies, procedures, and training for the department.
  • Look for ways to simplify, standardize, and systematically improve all company workflow from customer contact through satisfactory project completion.
  • Assist executive staff to continuously improve company management systems, including leadership, strategic planning, human resources, customer focus, information and knowledge management, and key processes and metrics
  • Supports and helps lead overall company Vision, Mission, and Values.
  • Actively participates in other company initiatives as required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a combination of field/work experience.
  • Minimum 15 years of construction experience with a general contractor.
  • Holds and maintains OSHA 30-hour training.
  • Holds and maintains ICC Certification G11 – National Standard General Building Contractor (A) (can accomplish within the first year of employment)
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and document management software.
  • Extensive experience with construction project management and scheduling software is required.
  • Experience with Vista by Viewpoint, MS Project, AutoDesk Build, and Bluebeam preferred.


KEY SKILLS:

  • Required travel between assigned projects and offices.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction contract process (subcontract and owner).
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods.
  • Strong knowledge of critical path scheduling.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written). Able to build trust, negotiate skillfully and work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to problem-solve when dealing with complex situations.
  • Ability to provide accurate and thorough documentation.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and project teams at the same time.
  • Proven ability to mentor and coach others.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • $125,000 to $160,000 depending on experience
