Production Assistant, Display Builder

We're looking for someone to join our Fabrication Team.

Xylem Design is a fab shop that builds standard and custom displays for art, retail spaces, and trade shows. We've carefully built an incredible team and we're looking for someone who enjoys a highly collaborative environment and has a positive, growth-oriented mindset that will thrive in a manufacturing environment committed to continuous improvement (aka lean manufacturing). How To Apply:

What You'll Be Doing:

• Building display pedestals for art collectors, retail brands, event producers, and galleries.
• Collaborating to achieve the shop-wide production goal.
• Working with sheet goods (laminates, veneers, acrylics) and power tools.
• Learning about 5S, pull vs push, one-piece flow, heijunka, and other tenants of lean manufacturing, a.k.a. kaizen, a.k.a. continuous improvement.
• Joining an incredible team dedicated to creating the best experience possible for both their team and their customers.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday –– 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

Who you are:

• You love working with your hands and know how to hustle.
• You’re a person of integrity and good humor. We hire for Character before Competence. Work ethic beats experience.
• You like high-energy environments, play well with others, and can be depended on by those around you.
• You want to learn, from new production processes to business philosophies.
• You're comfortable with power tools (or keen to learn).
• You can pick up 50 lbs boxes.

Your experience:

• Experience in a woodshop or manufacturing setting is a plus. You'll be working with your hands, tools, and materials every day, so any relevant experience building and working with your hands is going to help.
• If you've never worked with tools and sheet goods but are eager to learn our methods and lean manufacturing, we provide on-the-job training.
• Strong verbal communication and dedication to keeping the peace. (Our shop is a no-drama space and each team member actively participates in building a safe work environment)

Compensation + Benefits:

• Pay starting at $18/hr
