RLR, LLP is a small full-service CPA firm with offices in Northern Colorado and Wyoming with a focus on superior client service for our small business clients. Our firm continues to grow and we are seeking a Tax Manager with at least six years of experience to join our team. Our commitment to work life balance includes:

  • Professional staff members typically work 2,080 or 2,200 hour contracts or less.
  • Our offices are typically closed on Fridays from May through November -- a great opportunity for three day weekends in the summer and fall
  • Flexible work arrangements and environment, no mandatory Saturday work arrangements.
  • Minimal to no overnight travel or long- distance travel
We are looking for a well-organized tax manager who can deliver excellent work while making connections with our current clients. It is essential to be able to handle numerous priorities, take initiative, and make decisions while maintaining attention on results and the job's performance goals. Skills in staff development, being able to lead a group of professionals by example, and having time management abilities are all crucial.

The ideal applicant should be able to show that they can use their prior expertise and knowledge of taxes to make valuable contributions and help the tax department achieve its goals while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate should have exceptional process execution abilities and attention to detail in order to produce a high quality work.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage client engagements from start to finish, which involves organizing, carrying out, leading, and finishing tax projects while successfully generating a valuable result for both the customer and the company.
  • Develop and execute tax planning techniques for clients while addressing client needs.
  • Assist with identifying new and additional service opportunities from current and potential clients.
  • Research tax laws and prepare tax memorandums on technical issues.
  • Have strong communication skills with the ability to apply one's understanding as to execution requirements and provide effective.
  • Recognize complex technical issues, reach appropriate conclusions and apply appropriate technical authorities to support conclusions.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work responsibilities to meet deadlines. Ability to complete work in an effective and accurate manner.
  • Supervise associates and senior associates, providing them with leadership, counseling and career guidance as appropriate and required.
  • Possess a strong background in effective engagement management, knowing how to manage all aspects of client accounts.
  • Participate in mentoring, training, recruiting, retention and team-building activities.
  • Participate in developing and presenting internal training and seminars on technical issues.
The minimum qualifications for our professional tax staff positions are:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting (Masters a plus)
  • 6+ years of recent public tax accounting
  • CPA certification required
  • Hands-on experience with review and preparation of all forms and schedules related to corporations, individuals, gifts, trusts, and estate entities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and simultaneous projects in a fast-paced, interactive, results-based, team environment
  • Experience with various facets of state & local taxation, compliance & advisory, including sales & use, personal & real property, franchise and multi-jurisdiction income tax (Experience in other than multi-state income/franchise is valued but not required. A base level of multi-state income/franchise experience is expected).
  • Excellent supervisory, organizational, problem solving, critical/analytical thinking, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Established track record of successfully growing, interacting with, and managing customer bases.
  • Excellent project management and presentation skills.
  • Excellent skills in using business computer applications and ability to work in a fully paperless environment .
