ATE Test Development Engineer

Location: Ft. Collins, CO


About the Role

As an ATE Test Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing, validating, and optimizing test methodologies for advanced semiconductor devices. Leveraging your expertise in Automated Test Equipment (ATE), you will ensure product quality and reliability while resolving technical challenges. This position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, enhance test processes, and meet performance goals.


Key Responsibilities:


Test Development

  • Design and validate test flows and methodologies using leading ATE platforms such as Advantest or Teradyne systems.
  • Create and implement characterization test programs to diagnose RMA (Return Material Authorizations) and pinpoint circuit-level failures.
  • Develop and execute screening strategies to address gaps in ATE processes and improve product reliability.


Qualification & Debug Support

  • Support chip qualification testing, including failure verification and specification analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex failure mechanisms in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis using electrical and thermal assessments.


Innovation & R&D

  • Drive the development of advanced test methodologies to enhance structural and functional testing capabilities.
  • Participate in R&D initiatives to optimize ATE processes and meet challenging product requirements.


Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze large-scale test data to identify trends, correlate failures, and propose solutions for system-level challenges.
  • Generate detailed reports to guide team discussions and product enhancements.


Collaboration

  • Work closely with hardware and design teams to align testing requirements with product specifications.
  • Provide input on test environment improvements to optimize product performance and yield.


Required Qualifications:


Education & Experience

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with ATE systems, including Advantest or Teradyne platforms.


Technical Expertise

  • Demonstrated proficiency in test program development using SmarTest operating systems.
  • Strong ability to design and execute complex test flows for performance and power analysis.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis and correlation of ATE test failures to system-level issues.
  • Programming skills for test method development and process improvement.
  • Solid understanding of the interaction between test hardware and chip performance.
  • Experience conducting extreme temperature testing of semiconductor devices.
